Consulting Creativo chosen to revamp Montgomery County, Md. Latino Health Initiative website
May 2009 – Consulting Creativo has been selected by the Latino Health Initiative (LHI) of the Montgomery County, Md. Department of Health and Human Services to provide strategic planning, creative design and professional implementation for its website.
Established in July 2000, the LHI is committed to improving the quality of life of Latinos living in Montgomery County by contributing to the development and implementation of an integrated, coordinated, culturally and linguistically competent health-wellness system that supports, values, and respects Latino families and communities.
A redesigned website (http://lhiinfo.org) from Consulting Creativo will help reinvent the LHI’s online brand. The website will provide a wider range of information for the general public and health professionals alike. A socio-demographic profile, community-based organizations directory, and a full list of LHI’s programs and activities are just a few of the items the new website will offer.
With a user interface tailored for ease of use combined with a well-planned navigational system, visitors will be able to access the information they need more efficiently. A professional look that keeps the Hispanic audience in mind will give the website a welcoming feel – enabling LHI to increase awareness and become an authority on Latino health in Maryland.
The LHI’s diverse roster of initiatives include a Latino Asthma Management Pilot Program, a Program for Licensure of Foreign-Trained Health Professionals, a Smoking Cessation Program for Latinos, and “Vias de la Salud,” an effort to improve the health and well-being of the county’s low-income Latino community through the training and empowerment of Latino health promoters.
According to 2000 Census data, Maryland’s Latino population increased by 85 percent between 1990 and 2000. Census figures indicate that more than 106,000 Latinos currently live in Montgomery County, comprising close to 50 percent of Maryland’s Latino population and 11.4 percent of the County’s total population.
